When you say " outsourcing ", India always comes up either number 1 or 2. Their main advantage? Their fluency in English. So aside from lower labor costs, this english-language capability has made this country attractive to mulinational corporations.

Ironically, companies who'd set up in India for the advantage in language, may face problems arising from language barriers. India has 29 languages spoken by at least a million natives says Wikipedia. Indian workers do not have the same english skills. So, companies need to find personnel who does know a local dialect or two.

The same companies would naturally want to market their product and services within India. Why not? India has the second largest population in the world. And as India progresses, new consumers emerge. Percentagewise, that means millions. In order to reach these new can-afford consumers, they would need someone who knows Hindi, Marathi and or some of the other local dialects.

A native Indian would not have a problem with this. He or she would just need to be proficient in English. For a foreign worker, knowing a local dialect or two is definitely a great plus. So, if you know Indian languages or dialects, you stand a great chance of landing a job in India. And with that advantage, you can get a supervisory or higher position.
